Over 82 thousand long trains formed by the South-Eastern Train Control Center

Based on the results of work in 2024, the South-Eastern Regional Train Control Center (RTCC-2) demonstrated an improvement in key performance indicators. In particular, locomotive productivity was 101.3%, locomotive mileage reached 100.6%, and the turnover of working cars was 123.4%. Car productivity increased by 21.5% compared to 2023.

The throughput of long and heavy freight trains increased. In 2024, over 82 thousand long trains were formed and passed, which is 15.3% more compared to 2023. In turn, the number of heavy freight trains passed was 3,560, which is 54% more than the previous year.

Also, as part of the development of container transportation, the South-Eastern RTCC-2 increased the number of long container trains passed, which amounted to 8,673 trains. Of these, 7,982 were extra-long trains, and 691 were double container trains.

According to 2024 data, the volume of freight traffic between Kazakhstan and China reached 32 million tons, which is 13.2% more than in 2023. Particularly worth highlighting is the freight flow through border stations: 18 million tons were transported through the Dostyk-Alashankou station, which is 14.6% more than last year, and 13.7 million tons through Altynkol-Khorgos (an increase of 11.3%). In addition, on November 24, 2024, the annual OSJD plan for the delivery of goods through the Dostyk - Alashankou border crossing was fulfilled ahead of schedule.

South-East RTCC -2 serves 264 people, ensuring the reliable operation of 25 dispatching circles of the Almaty, Shymkent, Zhambyl and Semey branches. The total length of the RTCC -2 tracks is 4830 km, of which 1378 km are double-track and electrified. RTCC -2 includes 317 separate points, including 12 out-of-class and 10 class I stations.  

The center has 5 interstate junctions: with Russia - Lokot station, with China - Dostyk and Altynkol stations, with Kyrgyzstan - Turksib station and with Uzbekistan - Saryagash station.
