Over 67 million tons of coal transported by rail during the 2024-2025 heating season

During the 2024-2025 heating season (from May 2024 to March 2025), 67 million tons of coal were delivered by rail across Kazakhstan. Of these, 60 million tons were for combined heat and power plants (CHPP), 7 million tons were for the public utility sector.

As of the current moment, coal reserves at CHPP amount to about 3.7 million tons, which is 12% higher than the same period last year. In addition, about 400 thousand tons of fuel have been accumulated at coal dead ends.
