National Carrier Trains Undergo Comprehensive Winter Preparation

Extensive winter preparations are underway on all JSC Passenger Transportation routes. The company's fleet currently consists of 2,188 cars, including 1,317 standard cars, 732 Talgo trains, and 108 diesel-electric cars. All of these cars are undergoing phased preparation for winter operation.

All trains undergo heating system checks and testing to ensure their smooth operation in subzero temperatures. Ventilation diagnostics are performed to maintain optimal temperatures. Door and window seals are checked for leaks, and rubber seals are replaced if necessary.
 

Particular attention is paid to the braking system—its functionality must be guaranteed during snowfalls and low temperatures. Therefore, all moving parts are lubricated to prevent freezing. The exterior of trains is cleaned and inspected to prevent snow and ice accumulation and equipment malfunctions.

The company's maintenance depots conduct 24-hour scheduled inspections of undercar equipment and car chassis, wash car bodies, clean components, replace seals, and troubleshoot any identified faults. Before each trip, the cars undergo sanitization and disinfection, during which all surfaces are thoroughly cleaned. Disinfection is carried out by spraying, dusting, and wiping with certified products in strict compliance with sanitary standards.
 

Train crew members undergo comprehensive winter training, including switching to winter uniforms and being provided with all necessary equipment. Before each trip, employees undergo mandatory medical examinations and are provided with personal protective equipment. Staff receive ongoing safety training, first aid, and professional ethics.

After completion of all repairs, a thorough inspection is conducted by a special commission, which confirms the rolling stock's readiness for the winter season.
