More than 300 passengers departed from Astana on the first voyage of the Polar Express
16-12-2025
The Polar Express departed from the capital, turning into a truly festive journey for children and adults. More than 300 passengers, most of them children, took the maiden voyage. Festive decorations in the carriages, garlands, and music created a truly magical New Year's atmosphere. The project was implemented in partnership with JSC Passenger Transportation.
During the journey, passengers enjoyed a rich entertainment program. Children received sweets and gifts, listened to an original fairy tale featuring their favorite characters, and participated in games, dance flash mobs, and interactive performances. A bubble show and other surprises were also organized for the children.
The Polar Express features 15 fairytale characters, including Father Frost, Snow Maiden, Polar Explorers, Snezhana, Christmas tree, and Yeti. The children were particularly drawn to the national character Aldar Kose, one of the most recognizable figures in Kazakh folklore. He plays the national game "Asyk atu" with the children and treats them to traditional kurta.
Throughout the route, each carriage featured mini-performances with audience participation, games of "snowball," and an introduction to the "language of fairy tales." The highlight of the journey was the appearance of Father Frost and the Snow Maiden with holiday gifts.
The journey lasts two hours, after which the train returns to its departure point. The Polar Express departs from Astana-1 station and travels to Tastak station and back. Trips are scheduled for 11:00 AM on December 14, 16, 20, 21, 27, 28, and 29, 2025, and January 2 and 3, 2026.
