More than 25 Swiss companies and industry organizations took part in the fifth meeting of the Kazakhstan-Switzerland Business Council

The fifth meeting of the Kazakhstan-Switzerland Business Council (KSBC) was held in the capital of Kazakhstan, organized by NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC jointly with Stadler Kazakhstan. The event was held as part of the official visit of Mr. Guy Parmelin, Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research.

The meeting was co-chaired by Talgat Aldybergenov, Chairman of the Management Board of NC KTZ JSC, and Peter Spuhler, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Stadler Rail Group.
 

Representatives from more than 25 leading Swiss companies, including ABB, Kühne + Nagel, and Constellium, as well as industry organizations Swissmem, JCC, and Economiesuisse, participated in the council's work. The Kazakh side was represented by key national companies and industry associations.

During the meeting, six agreements were signed aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation in mechanical engineering, nuclear energy, logistics, trade, and industry.

During the visit, Guy Parmelin and representatives of the Swiss delegation visited the production site of Stadler Kazakhstan LLC. The guests were introduced to the production processes and saw completed compartment and reserved seat carriages for JSC Passenger Transportation.

The first domestically produced carriages will be delivered to JSC Passenger Transportation as early as December of this year. Stadler Kazakhstan will also provide 20-year maintenance services for the rolling stock. The total order calls for the production of 557 carriages by 2030.

For reference: The Kazakhstan-Switzerland Business Council (KSBC) was established in 2013 to strengthen trade and economic ties and develop direct interaction between the business communities of the two countries. For over 13 years, the Council has brought together leading companies from Kazakhstan and Switzerland, promoting investment and joint projects. The previous meeting was held in 2021 in Geneva during the official visit of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, where a strategic partnership between KTZ NC JSC and Stadler was established. Two years later, a Stadler Kazakhstan production facility was opened in Astana.
