More than 1.6 thousand train conductors and ticket office employees work in the railway industry

08-03-2025

Over 3.5 thousand women work at JSC Passenger Transportation, including 1,256 train conductors and 401 ticket office employees. On the eve of International Women's Day, it is especially important to note their significant contribution to the railway industry, because their daily work plays a key role in ensuring the smooth movement of trains and a high level of service for passengers.

The work of a conductor is not just about monitoring order in the carriages. This is a profession that requires dedication, endurance and responsibility. Every month, conductors spend 170 to 180 hours on the road away from their families. In addition to their direct responsibilities, they provide psychological support to passengers, take care of young travelers, and in emergency situations become real rescuers. There are cases when conductors delivered babies right on trains - over the past three years, 14 babies were born on the road. The conductors who provided assistance were themselves mothers of many children.

The work of the ticket office staff is no less important. They not only sell tickets, but also help passengers navigate the schedule and provide advice on travel conditions. There are 165 ticket offices operating 24/7 across the country, and their smooth operation is the merit of women who work in two shifts, demonstrating patience, professionalism and attention to each passenger.

Women in the railway industry face various challenges every day, but their dedication to the profession, fortitude and hard work make the smooth operation of passenger transport possible. Their contribution is not just the performance of official duties, but a real mission, thanks to which millions of passengers get to their destinations with comfort and safety.
