16-10-2025
The first batches of new CKD6S series shunting locomotives and TE36A series mainline diesel locomotives arrived at the Zhanaarka and Mangystau locomotive depots. Employees of the companies celebrated the arrival of the modern equipment, which arrived under a long-term agreement between JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and the Chinese companies CRRC Ziyang Co. Ltd and CRRC Dalian Co., Ltd.
The delivery of the new equipment is part of the planned renewal of KTZ's locomotive fleet. To date, 17 shunting locomotives have already been delivered, successfully operating at the Astana and Ekibastuz stations. An additional 100 units of this series are planned for delivery by the end of 2026.
The new diesel locomotives boast improved technical and operational characteristics. They are equipped with the BORT safety system, air conditioning, a refrigerator, an electric stove, and a restroom, providing comfortable conditions for locomotive crews. To enhance safety, five video cameras are installed to record the train's environment, including the diesel compartment and the driver's cab. The data is stored on a 2-terabyte hard drive.
The operation of modern diesel locomotives will improve operational efficiency and safety and contribute to the further development of Kazakhstan's railway industry.
