Modern CRRC diesel locomotives will be operated in the northern regions of the country
23-05-2025
In 2025, CRRC Ziyang company (PRC) will supply KTZ with 62 shunting locomotives of the SKD6s series. The first locomotives have already been delivered to Kazakhstan, and certificates of conformity have been received for them. Another 38 units of equipment are planned to be delivered in the first half of 2026.
The operation of SKD6s diesel locomotives will be organized in the Karaganda and Pavlodar branches, as well as in the Astana locomotive depot. The opening of service centers is planned in the Pavlodar and Karaganda depots.
The purchase is being carried out within the framework of the framework agreement for the supply of 100 shunting and 100 mainline diesel locomotives signed between NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC and CRRC Corporation. The document provides for not only the supply of modern traction equipment, but also the creation of engineering and service centers for its maintenance in Kazakhstan.
CRRC is the world's largest manufacturer of railway equipment, accounting for about 50% of the world locomotive-building market.
Cooperation between KTZ and CRRC has been going on for more than 20 years. During this time, Kazakhstan has acquired about 300 passenger and mainline locomotives, as well as over 6 thousand freight cars of Chinese manufacture. The supplied equipment has proven itself to be reliable and efficient in the conditions of the Kazakhstan railway network.
