KTZ is conducting large-scale preparations for the winter period and improving industrial safety

A media meeting with KTZ Chief Engineer Ramazan Sadyrkulov was held on the Burabay Express electric train. The speaker briefed journalists on the Company's preparations for winter operations, key measures to prevent injuries, and ensure indus-trial safety.

The Company has approved a Standard for organizing the preparation of struc-tural divisions and subsidiaries for winter operations, within which headquarters oper-ate at the corporate, network, and regional levels. Corporate headquarters meetings are held twice a month, from July to November. The main task of the headquarters is to monitor the implementation of measures to prepare facilities and personnel, ensure coal supply, and ensure the readiness of boiler houses, buildings, structures, locomo-tive fleet, and passenger cars.

As part of the winter preparation program, 107 measures are planned, covering all structural divisions and subsidiaries. This year, 2,808 buildings and structures, 540 boiler houses, over 300 units of snow removal equipment, 1,721 locomotives, and 1,107 passenger cars will be prepared for winter operation. Full readiness of the facilities is planned for November 1, and winter equipment by November 30.

All workers, without exception, whose professions and positions are specified by the Order of the Minister of Health and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 8, 2015, No. 943, will be provided with special winter workwear.

According to the speaker, KTZ is systematically implementing measures to pre-vent industrial injuries, focusing on three key areas: implementing organizational and technical plans, training and professional development of employees, and introducing digital technologies into the industrial safety system. In 2025, more than 11,000 em-ployees completed training in occupational health, industrial safety, and electrical safe-ty, while over 4,000 people participated in corporate courses.

Furthermore, as part of the program to foster a culture of workplace safety, meet-ings were held between work teams and employees who had suffered industrial inju-ries. Over the first six months, more than 9,000 people in seven regions of the country attended these sessions. The Company also implements international training pro-grams based on NEBOSH, IOSH, and Defensive Driving standards.

KTZ is implementing projects aimed at automating and improving the safety of production processes. Pilot tests are underway on a train approach warning system to prevent collisions with employees on the tracks. Video recorders are being installed on locomotives for visual monitoring and automatic recording of events. Video tokens are being purchased for employees to monitor and analyze personnel actions. At the Asta-na station, a pilot project for a video analytics system designed to analyze hazardous situations is being implemented in collaboration with Asia NETCOM.

Since 2019, the Company has been a participant in the international Vision Zero concept, aimed at achieving zero injuries. Today, occupational safety issues are among the key priorities of top management and department heads.
