KTZ will receive the first hybrid shunting locomotives on 1520 mm gauge

The management of NC KTZ JSC met with the head of the Chinese corporation CRRC Corporation Limited, Mr. Sun Yongcai.

The parties noted the successful implementation of previously reached agreements on the supply of 200 locomotives.

This year, the first batch (90 units) of mainline and shunting diesel locomotives will be delivered to Kazakhstan, including the first hybrid shunting locomotives in 1520 mm gauge.

In addition, CRRC will create service centers in Kazakhstan for the supplied locomotives. Personnel training on their operation and maintenance has begun.

Other promising areas of cooperation were considered: digitalization, technological solutions for track and contact network inspection, rolling stock for high-speed passenger traffic, technologies for automatic change of track width of freight car bogies, and others.

Reference: a shunting locomotive operates on average from 4 to 6 hours a day. At the same time, according to the technology, the engine must always be hot. The use of hybrid locomotives will ensure fuel savings.
