KTZ transported over 70 million tons of coal for the past heating season

From May 2024 to April 2025, over 71.7 million tons of coal were transported via the KTZ network, including 64.7 million tons to thermal power plants and over 7 million tons for municipal and domestic needs. All shippers' requests were fulfilled in full.

This was announced by Deputy Director of the KTZ branch - "Integrated Planning Directorate" Gani Yesenbayev at the VI Forum of the Coal Industry of Kazakhstan.

Ensuring uninterrupted supply of solid fuel remains a key priority for the Company, on which the stable operation of thermal power plants, social infrastructure facilities and heat supply to the population depend.

Active preparations for the autumn-winter period of 2025-2026 have begun since May 2025. The KTZ Coal Transportation Operational Headquarters, which includes more than 60 specialists, continues its work. The headquarters conducts round-the-clock monitoring of loading, regulates the supply of empty cars and coordinates logistics with coal mining enterprises.

Particular attention is paid to the formation of route and hub shipments, which allows for faster car turnover, optimized delivery times and increased efficiency in areas with limited throughput.

About 28 thousand cars are involved in the operation of KTZ, of which 20 thousand gondola cars are included in the turnover in the autumn-winter period. The fleet allows to cover the predicted volume of coal transportation.

Scheduled repairs of the railway infrastructure are carried out in areas with large volumes of loading and unloading.

KTZ calls on shippers, consignees and local executive bodies to evenly distribute loading volumes throughout the year in order to avoid peak loads in the autumn-winter months.
