KTZ supports the phased refusal to extend the service life of old freight cars and continues to renew the fleet

05-09-2025

As of the beginning of 2025, there are about 142 thousand freight cars in Kazakhstan, the average age of which is about 15 years. Of these, 39 thousand belong to KTZ, the rest are on the balance sheet of private operators.

Currently, the extension of the service life of cars is carried out according to the established rules approved by the authorized body and decisions of the CIS Council for Railway Transport. Private repair companies are responsible for the quality of such procedures.

There are five specialized car-building enterprises in Kazakhstan. Together, they are capable of producing up to 12 thousand modern cars per year, which opens up wide opportunities for renewing the country's railway fleet.

KTZ is ready for close cooperation with government agencies, industrial enterprises and rolling stock operators.

The main goal of the company is a safe, reliable and modern railway industry that meets the needs of the country's economy.
