KTZ to start upgrading Altynkol-Zhetygen section this year

KTZ management held a field meeting in Almaty on the implementation of infrastructure projects in the region.
The construction of the railway line bypassing Almaty station is in full swing and on schedule. Today, the roadbed for laying the new track is almost ready. 74 km of rail and sleeper grid have been assembled at production bases. Bridge construction and pipe installation are on schedule. The project is planned to be completed this year.
The meeting also discussed issues of increasing the capacity of the Altynkol-Zhetygen railway section, which is 293 km long. It envisages the construction of second tracks and new sidings, and the development of stations. The implementation of the project will unlock the potential of the transport corridor between China and Central Asia, and will also give impetus to the socio-economic development of the region.
The company plans to start upgrading the section this year.
