KTZ Opens Modern Laboratory at ALT UNIVERSITY
11-11-2025
With the support of the Department of Electrification and Energy of the Main Line Directorate branch, a modern training and practical laboratory for overhead contact systems and power lines has opened at ALT UNIVERSITY.
The laboratory was created for students majoring in Electric Power Engineering and is intended to train future engineers and specialists in railway power supply systems. It provides practical training in modern railway electrification technologies and strengthens the connection between education and production.
The laboratory's central element is the КС-160 overhead contact system—a scaled-down, yet fully functional, replica of the actual overhead contact system used on Kazakhstan's railways.
The laboratory includes a training rig with components and fittings for overhead contact system mounting, a station overhead contact system on a rigid crossbar divided into several sections, and a remote-controlled overhead contact system disconnector motor drive.
The laboratory will enable students to develop practical skills and train qualified personnel for the industry, closely resembling the actual operating conditions of railway infrastructure.
