KTZ militarized railway security summed up the results of its work for 2024

More than six thousand employees of VZhDO LLP are on guard for the order and safety of cargo and strategic facilities, involved in 87 rifle units and 28 mobile rapid response groups operating throughout the country.

The main task of VZhDO is to protect cargo and critical railway infrastructure facilities. Every day, about 45 thousand cars are under the control of security personnel, including those with dangerous and especially valuable cargo. In 2024, VZhDO employees ensured the safe escort of over 525 thousand containers sent from China to Europe, Russia, Asia and other regions. Strategic infrastructure facilities, such as bridges, tunnels, seaports and control centers, also remain in the area of responsibility of the units. During 2024, security forces prevented more than one hundred thefts of cargo and elements of railway infrastructure.

To improve the efficiency of operations, special attention is paid to ensuring the continuity of security. Due to legislative restrictions on the provision of services to third-party companies, there are certain sections of the railway infrastructure where VZhDO does not have the right to provide security. To solve this problem, legislative changes have been initiated aimed at eliminating these shortcomings and ensuring control over cargo at each stage of transportation. At the same time, the issue of tightening legislation in terms of increasing liability for theft and embezzlement on the railway, as well as determining the status of national security, is being worked out in order to form a security institute on the basis of VZhDO.

To improve the comfort of employees, the model range of uniforms has been updated: amendments have been made to the legislation, which made it possible to create a new generation uniform with improved strength and comfort characteristics.

Mobile rapid response teams have been strengthened in pilot mode. Interregional mobile rapid response teams operate on the basis of branches in Almaty, Karaganda and Semey. The security staff of these units undergo strict control to ensure that they meet a high level of physical and tactical training for work in crime-prone areas.

At the same time, the fleet of mobile groups has been replenished: vehicles with increased cross-country ability have been put into service, which has increased the efficiency of rapid response.

VZhDO has a new system of employee motivation: bonuses, seniority payments, and health insurance are provided. Cooperation with other law enforcement agencies has also been strengthened: a memorandum has been signed with the Transport Police Department, which has made it possible to switch to round-the-clock monitoring of crime-prone areas and improve the overall level of security at railway facilities.

Despite its 100-year history, VZhDO keeps up with the times. For example, significant changes are taking place in technological processes. In particular, the "Korgau" system is being introduced, which will allow digitizing the entire transportation process from the inception stage to its completion, optimize routine tasks, increase the transparency of security and eliminate bureaucracy. Today, VZhDO strives not only for protection, but also for the development of customer service. Within the framework of the Unified Service Center, work is underway to introduce services for installing security equipment on rolling stock. More and more shippers are requesting the installation of navigation seals, tracking systems and increased security, which has a positive effect on the level of security of transportation.

This year, VZhDO will continue to implement measures to strengthen control over cargo and infrastructure. The focus remains on the inspection and acceptance of wagons using photo and video recording, increasing the level of technical equipment, installing surveillance and lighting systems in key areas.
