KTZ intends to tighten penalties for violating rules for crossing railway crossings

03-03-2025

KTZ plans to appeal to government agencies with a request to tighten penalties for violating rules for crossing railway crossings. This initiative is aimed at improving safety on railway tracks and protecting the lives and health of passengers and railway workers. Earlier,

KTZ initiated proposals to amend the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Administrative Offenses". They were aimed at tightening administrative and criminal liability for persons who are at fault for violations of traffic safety, road accidents, as well as for walking on railway tracks in unauthorized places, grazing cattle in the right-of-way of railways.

KTZ is confident that tightening penalties will help reduce the number of incidents and increase the responsibility of all road users.

In January-February 2025, 4 road traffic accidents occurred at railway crossings due to violations of traffic rules by drivers of motor vehicles, which created a threat to the safety of passengers and railway workers. On March 1, at the railway crossing of the Tendik station, a truck collided with a freight train due to the fault of the driver. As a result of the accident, locomotive crew members were injured, and the locomotive and 11 empty cars derailed.

In 2024, 26 road traffic accidents were recorded at railway crossings. KTZ calls on all road users to strictly observe safety rules on the railway.
