KTZ fire trains are ready for work in the spring
18-02-2025
KTZ has 47 fire trains and 4 fire stations located at the Altynkol, Koskol, Shubarkol and Tassay stations. These specialized trains, equipped with modern equipment and professional specialists, play a key role in fighting fires at railway facilities and in emergency situations with dangerous goods. In addition, fire trains help extinguish fires in residential areas located near the railway, and are also used to pump melt water during flood periods.
Each fire train consists of 4 cars: a pumping station car (a converted passenger car that accommodates personnel with a compartment for rest, meals and training), an engine room with fire-fighting equipment, a motor pump, a power station, a light tower, a foam concentrate, as well as 2 tanks and a garage car for a fire engine. The water tanks are equipped with electronic sensors that monitor the temperature and level of the water, and in winter the water is heated to prevent it from freezing.
A fire train can move to the scene of an incident at the highest possible speed, having an advantage over other trains. It holds up to 100 cubic meters of water and at least 5 tons of foam concentrate.
In 2024, fire trains and special vehicles of KTZ responded to 32 calls to extinguish fires. Of these, 24 times they assisted the Department of Emergency Situations in extinguishing fires in forest belts, third-party facilities and in the private sector. As a result, more than 1.6 thousand tons of water and 1.5 tons of foam were delivered to effectively extinguish the fires. The efficiency and mobility of KTZ fire trains allow for quick elimination of threats and minimization of damage.
