KTZ develops grain export routes to Central Asia and China

In January 2025, Akmola railway workers transported 696.7 thousand tons of cargo, including 512.8 thousand tons of grain, which is equivalent to 7,478 cars. Of the total volume, 94.1 thousand tons (1,408 cars) were transported within the country, and 418.6 thousand tons (6,070 cars) were exported.

Particular attention is paid to organizing routes for the transportation of grain in the direction of Central Asia, China and the port of Aktau (export). In January, 5 grain export routes were formed. Grain was transported in 1,228 containers, of which 20 are organized routes.
In 2024, 7.2 million tons of cargo were transported through the Akmola freight transportation department network, the main ones being grain, milled products, cyanide and others.

The transportation process was carried out by two types of traction: electric locomotive (on the Sorokovaya - Astana - Kokshetau - Zhana-Yesil - Presnogorkovskaya sections), which provides 96% of transportation, and diesel locomotive (on the Petropavlovsk - Kokshetau - Kyzyl-Tu sections).
