KTZ Calls for a Reduction in Private Railcar Downtime to Improve Transportation Efficiency

The network of NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC has seen an increase in the number of idle  private railcars, which is negatively impacting transportation efficiency. For more than 10 days in November, over 2,500 railcars from the operating fleet have been idle on station tracks, including 1,500 empty and approximately 500 loaded.

The reasons for the extended downtime are not related to KTZ operations or the technical condition of the infrastructure. The excessive number of idle railcars limits station capacity, impedes the receipt and dispatch of trains, reduces service speeds, and increases rolling stock turnover.

To stabilize transportation, KTZ calls on shippers and consignees to promptly take measures to clear station tracks and ensure timely unloading and preparation of railcar loading areas.
