KTZ and RZD approved an action plan for strategic cooperation for 2025-2027

The 15th meeting of the joint working group on strategic cooperation of NC KTZ JSC and Russian Railways JSC was held in Almaty. The delegations were headed by Deputy Chairman of the Board of NC KTZ JSC Anuar Akhmetzhanov and First Deputy General Director of Russian Railways JSC Sergey Pavlov.
The parties discussed current issues of cooperation and summed up the results of their joint work. An increase in container transportation through international railway junctions along the eastern route of the North-South International Transport Corridor was noted: in the first quarter of 2025, the volume increased by 63% and exceeded 1 thousand TEU.
During the marketing period (September 2024 - April 2025), over 650 thousand tons of grain were shipped to Russian and Baltic ports. Container transportation on the China-Russia-China route increased by 30% in January-March and reached more than 132 thousand TEU.
According to the results of the first quarter, more than 2.3 million tons of Kazakh coal were transported in transit through Russia, which is 44.5% more than in the same period of 2024. The bulk of export coal was transshipped through Russian ports: 1.3 million tons through the Baltic ports, 900 thousand tons through the ports of the Azov-Black Sea basin (a five-fold increase compared to last year). At the meeting, the parties agreed to increase the supply of Kazakh coal to Russian ports.
The meeting participants noted the implementation of the Action Plan for the main areas of strategic cooperation for 2023-2024 and approved a new Plan for 2025-2027.
Following the meeting, a protocol was signed. The next meeting will be held in the second half of 2025 in Russia.
