Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and Estonia Discussed Developing Cooperation and Prospects for the Middle Corridor

17-11-2025

KTZ hosted a meeting with a delegation from the Republic of Estonia, led by Minister of Infrastructure Kuldar Leis. Current cooperation in rail transportation and the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) were discussed.

Over the first 10 months of this year, freight volumes by rail between Kazakhstan and Estonia totaled 264,100 tons, 61.4% higher than the same period in 2024.

It was noted that the Middle Corridor is becoming a strategically important transit route through Kazakhstan. Cargo delivery from China to Europe takes 15-18 days, twice as fast as the sea route.

To improve service quality, KTZ, together with PSA International, has implemented a digital multimodal transportation corridor, ensuring transparent transit declarations, cargo tracking throughout Kazakhstan, and a unified digital document flow. In Kazakhstan, the integration of digital processes between the railway operator, freight forwarder, and customs authorities has been completed, expediting cargo processing.

KTZ continues to improve the route's attractiveness for customers by offering stable rates, optimized delivery times, and customer-focused service.

In the medium term, the company plans to increase freight traffic along the Middle Corridor to 10 million tons.
