Kazakhstan and Russia discussed the development of the North-South transport corridor and the transit of coal to China

A meeting was held in Moscow between the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev, the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Roman Starovoit and the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Sergey Tsivilev. 

The heads of NC KTZ JSC  and Russian Railways JSC also took part in the negotiations.

The parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of transportation, including the development of the North-South route and the transit of Russian coal to China through the territory of Kazakhstan.

In anticipation of this meeting, railway workers of the two countries held a number of meetings, including with the participation of Russian coal companies. During the discussions, a high interest was expressed in transportation through Kazakhstan, since this route is a popular and promising alternative.

The meeting discussed the prospects for strengthening partnership, increasing the efficiency of transportation and developing transport and logistics infrastructure between the two countries.
