Kazakhstan and China have agreed to accommodate shift workers at border stations on each other's territory

To improve the efficiency of border crossings between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the People's Republic of China, as well as to ensure the uninterrupted receipt and transfer of cargo in the adjacent territories, NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC  and China Railways, following a meeting of the mixed commissions of border railways, reached an agreement to accommodate shift workers at border stations on each other's territory.

At the Dostyk and Altynkol stations, NC KTZ JSC has completed repairs and  modernization of buildings intended to accommodate shift workers from the People's Republic of China, and has created the necessary conditions for the safe work and comfortable living conditions of the Chinese employees. The implementation of the agreements reached will lift existing restrictions, expedite administrative formalities (procedures), increase the capacity of border stations, expedite the processing of cargo shipping documents, and facilitate the further development of cooperation in rail transport between Kazakhstan and China.

The arrival of shift workers from both sides at adjacent stations is planned for December 2025.
