Huawei begins LTE-R deployment on the railway

February 20, 2025 in Shenzhen, the head of Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. Mr. Liang Hua received the head of NC KTZ JSC Nurlan Sauranbayev.

The parties discussed the progress of implementing previously reached  agreements and noted the successful implementation of projects by the end of 2024. To date, work has been completed on upgrading data transmission networks and introducing cloud technologies, a pilot of the LTE-R mobile communication standard. The implementation of artificial intelligence has begun.

The meeting identified prospects for further cooperation. The companies agreed to begin large-scale deployment of the LTE-R network on the Trans-Kazakhstan Railway Corridor in 2025 with the participation of leading Kazakhstan operators (‘Kazakhtelecom’ JSC, ‘TTC’ JSC, etc.).

The prospects for using industrial robots for track inspection and minor repairs were considered. The executives also discussed cooperation with Huawei in creating the College of the Future in Kazakhstan, an innovative educational center specializing in AI technologies.

The companies confirmed funding for key initiatives and approved a roadmap for joint projects for 2025.
