The first tourist train from Xi'an arrived in Almaty

The first international tourist train from China on the Xi'an-Almaty route arrived at Almaty-2 station. In honor of the train's arrival, a solemn ceremony was organized on the platform to welcome guests with the performance of Kazakh kyui on dombra, conveying national flavor.

The event brought together representatives of the state and transport spheres of the two countries. It was attended by the Deputy Akim of Almaty, the Director of the Municipal Department of Culture and Tourism of Xi'an, the Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC, the Chairman of the Committee for Railway and Water Transport of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Industry of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

"The national carrier welcomes passengers of the international tourist train "Xi'an-Almaty". Comprehensive preparations were carried out to ensure the safe passage of the train through the territory of Kazakhstan. "For the convenience of travel, a special schedule has been developed that takes into account the route features and connections with international traffic," said Anuar Akhmetzhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC NC KTZ.

The train consists of 9 cars. The tourist delegation includes 246 people, including business representatives, scientists, actors and athletes, who will get acquainted with the historical and cultural heritage of the southern capital of Kazakhstan over the course of five days. The program of stay for tourists from China includes:

● June 1 — official welcoming ceremony and opening of the Xi'an-Almaty Cultural Tourism Week;
● June 2 — large-scale humanitarian festival on the Republic Palace Square;
● June 3 — excursions to museums and attractions of Almaty;
● June 4 — sports and youth events, including friendly matches and meetings of women entrepreneurs;
● June 5 and 6 — departure on the return journey;
● June 7 at 18:30 (Beijing time) — the train arrived in Xi'an.
 

 

This project has become an important step in strengthening cultural ties and developing tourism cooperation between Kazakhstan and China. It was implemented on the instructions of the Head of State and is one of the key initiatives aimed at developing railway tourism and promoting Kazakhstan as a tourist destination.

The train passed through the city of Urumqi, crossed the Khorgos international border crossing, where the wheelsets were changed, then passed through the Altynkol station and arrived in Almaty.

The launch of the tourist train was organized by NC KTZ JSC with the support of the Government of Shaanxi Province, the municipal authorities of Xi'an, as well as the Akimat of Almaty and with the assistance of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
