19-11-2025

A roundtable discussion on "Transportation Assessment on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) for 2025 and Transportation Plans for 2026" was held in Aktau with the participation of key Kazakhstani exporters. The purpose of the meeting was to familiarize TITR participants with the region's port and terminal infrastructure, as well as with ongoing efforts to increase throughput capacity. The event was initiated by NC KTZ JSC .

Salamat Abzhaliyev, Deputy General Director of KTZ-Freight Transportation, reported that the volume of rail transportation along the TITR route for the first 10 months of 2025 amounted to 2.6 million tons. The share of Kazakhstani freight exports on this route reached 74%. The largest growth was observed in non-ferrous metal shipments, up 84%, grain shipments tripled, and chemical and mineral fertilizer shipments increased by 16%. Main transit volumes in the westbound direction increased by 32.4%, confirming international interest in the route.

KTZ representatives noted that a large-scale audit had been conducted to improve the efficiency of this route. Following this audit, a joint action plan to eliminate bottlenecks was signed by Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia at the New Silk Way Forum in Almaty on September 30, 2025. The document includes key areas: infrastructure development (including the procurement of vessels for container shipping), unification of administrative procedures, digitalization of transport processes, and a coordinated tariff policy.

Port and terminal management demonstrated infrastructure capabilities and outlined measures aimed at increasing the speed of cargo delivery. Shippers raised questions regarding current operational activities, to which KTZ responded. Plans for the coming year were also discussed. The parties agreed to formalize the decisions and proposals made. NC KTZ JSC continues to develop trans-Caspian logistics and strengthen international cooperation, improving transportation efficiency and ensuring stable freight flow across Kazakhstan.
