China invests in the construction of a transport and logistics hub in the Almaty agglomeration

On February 19, 2025, in Urumqi, member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, Secretary of the Communist Party of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China Mr. Ma Xingrui received Chairman of the Management Board of NC KTZ JSC Nurlan Sauranbayev. 

Mr. Ma Xingrui noted the steady growth dynamics of rail transportation between Kazakhstan and China, the volume of which reached a record level of 32 million tons in 2024.

It was noted at the meeting that all issues discussed at previous meetings have been fully implemented (construction of second tracks on the Dostyk-Moiynty section, increase in the volume of transit cargo, etc.).

Plans for 2025-2026 were outlined, including: the creation of a transport and logistics hub in the Almaty agglomeration, the development of the Dostyk-Alashankou border crossing and the speedy implementation of the construction of the Bakhty-Ayagoz railway line. The need to create a mixed commission with the participation of government agencies for general coordination in matters of cargo transportation by all modes of transport was noted.

At the meeting, the XUAR leadership decided to invest 1 billion yuan in the construction of a transport and logistics hub in Kazakhstan.

Responsible persons were appointed for all issues discussed and tight deadlines for implementation were determined.
