In the first 10 months of 2025, 30 collisions involving people were recorded, resulting in 34 injuries, 15 of which were fatal, and 19 with various injuries. Three of the victims were minors.
The majority of accidents involved citizens violating regulations on railway facilities. In 40% of cases (12 incidents), the victims were intoxicated, in two cases they were wearing headphones, and one was a suicide.
In the first 10 months of 2025, 24 accidents were recorded at railway crossings, including three involving passenger trains.
To prevent similar incidents, extensive awareness-raising campaigns have been conducted on the railway since the beginning of this year. Together with paramilitary security and railway police, 1,570 raids were organized and 2,105 meetings were held, including at educational institutions, reaching over 66,000 people. As a result of these raids, violators were held administratively, and 39 fines were issued.
KTZ urges citizens to strictly observe railway safety regulations, not to cross tracks in unauthorized areas, not to use headphones or other devices that reduce attention, and to exercise extreme caution near railway facilities.
