Almaty Region Takes Measures to Ensure Safety During Flood Period

The Almaty branch of the main network has formed five anti-washout trains, stationed at the Aktogay, Beskol, Aynabulak, Almaty-1 and Altynkol stations. The total number of anti-washout trains consists of 38 cars, including covered cars loaded with tools, inventory and materials, platforms with rubble and substandard reinforced concrete sleepers.

Along the railway line of the Almaty branch, 74 flood-prone sections have been identified, which are under constant monitoring. Track section managers regularly conduct detours. Train drivers have been instructed to report any changes in the flood situation, such as accumulation of water in the right-of-way or deterioration of water flow through artificial structures. Complete cleaning of artificial structures has been completed: 289 bridges, 855 culverts, 253.2 km of ditches and 67.8 km of upland canals.

In the department for monitoring the passage of flood waters, additional patrols, detours and round-the-clock duty of mid-level managers of track, signaling and communication, as well as power supply have been organized.
