80th Anniversary of the Great Victory. Kazinform Photo exhibition opens in Astana

A grand opening of the photo exhibition “80 Years of Victory. Kazinform Photo Chronicle” took place in Astana. The event was organized by the International Information Agency Kazinform together with National Company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC.

The exhibition is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory and is dedicated to the contribution of Kazakhstanis to the defeat of fascism. For over a century, Kazinform has been documenting the history of our country, reflecting the most important events in public and state life in news feeds and unique photographs.

During the war, over 1.2 million people were mobilized from Kazakhstan, of whom over 600 thousand did not return home. Kazakhstan played a key role in the rear: 9 out of 10 bullets used on the front lines were cast at its factories; 1,500 train cars with clothing and food were sent; light industry enterprises equipped 2 million soldiers. 78 hospitals were operating, and Kazakhstanis collected more than 4 million rubles for the defense fund. In 1945, a tank column built with student funds took part in the storming of Berlin.

The exhibition presents unique archival photographs from the war period, reflecting Kazakhstan's contribution to the victory over fascism, authored by the agency's correspondents. Many of the authors' names, unfortunately, have been lost. Among those that have survived are V. Grebnev, Yu. Redkin, Galkin. But the work in the archives continues.

"This work is being done as part of the 105th anniversary of the Kazinform agency. The Kazinform photo chronicle contains more than 3 thousand unique photographs from the period of World War II. They convey the spirit of the era, the heroism of the generation that stood up to defend the world from fascism, and reflect such enduring values as self-sacrifice and heroism, hard work and loyalty to duty, patriotism and love for the Motherland. For the presented exhibition, we selected 80 photographs as a symbol of the Victory anniversary,” said Askar Dzhaldinov, Deputy Director for Production Issues of the Television and Radio Complex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
 

 

The heroes of the presented photographs – soldiers, doctors, workers, scientists – are the embodiment of the spirit of the Great Victory. Among them: pilot Talgat Bigeldinov, twice Hero of the Soviet Union; sniper Aliya Moldagulova; machine gunner Manshuk Mametova;

Major General Ivan Panfilov; Colonel Bauyrzhan Momyshuly and many others. Their exploits are a symbol of the unbending will and fortitude of the people. The Kazinform photo exhibition is a tribute to memory and gratitude, an opportunity to take a fresh look at the past and remember the price at which the Victory was achieved.

A video version of the exhibition will be shown on LED screens at railway stations and airports throughout Kazakhstan to make the exhibition accessible to a wider audience.
