240,000 passengers are planned to be transported to Alakol by rail this summer

Passenger Transportation JSC launched 12 additional routes in popular tourist destinations during the summer period. A total of 13 routes have been organized in the direction of Lake Alakol, including trains from Astana, Almaty, Kyzylorda, Pavlodar, Semey and Ust-Kamenogorsk. Of these, 11 routes are operated by Passenger Transportation JSC trains, and two by private carriers. 9 routes organized by the national carrier were launched specifically for the summer period. The national carrier's trains used on these routes are fully equipped with air conditioning.

According to the results of last year, 236 thousand passengers were transported by rail to and from Lake Alakol. This year, it is planned to serve about 240 thousand. Since 2022, the volume of passenger traffic on this route has increased by 90%, which indicates a consistently high demand for holidays at one of the most popular resorts in the country.

In addition to Lake Alakol, the Borovoye resort area is traditionally very popular among passengers. The main flow in the summer is provided by large cities - Astana, Almaty, Shymkent and Aktobe. Trains running between these megacities demonstrate a high level of occupancy and demand.
