Train drivers applied emergency braking about 3 thousand times due to livestock and accidents at crossings

Over the first ten months of 2024, train drivers were forced to apply emergency braking about 3 thousand times due to livestock, people and cars entering the tracks. These incidents led to delays in the movement of passenger and freight trains.

The largest number of cases of stray animals leaving the tracks occurred within the Karaganda, Almaty, Semey and Zhambyl freight transportation departments. Stray livestock pose a threat not only to train traffic, but also to human safety.

20 accidents were recorded at railway crossings, caused by car drivers. This is of particular concern to railway workers. The greatest risk is associated with crossings located within the boundaries of the Akmola and Kostanay branches.

KTZ reminds that the railway is a high-risk zone.

To minimize such incidents, railway workers regularly hold preventive talks with local residents, explaining the importance of observing safety rules, the inadmissibility of releasing livestock on the tracks and the need to comply with the rules of conduct on the railway.
