The results of the Regional Transportation Control Center ‘North’

21-01-2025

In 2024, the Regional Transportation Control Center of the Northen region (North RTCC) formed 540 container double trains, 42 double trains of empty gondola cars, 109 overweight trains (9,000 tons) and 139 oversized trains (more than 350 axles). These measures significantly reduced the need for locomotive fleet and locomotive crews.

North RTCC significantly improved operational indicators such as freight turnover, section train speed, work car turnover, downtime at technical stations and average daily car productivity. The number of container trains increased by 9.6% compared to 2023, and their route speed was also improved.

In 2024, 2,189 through trains were formed, of which more than half (1,292 trains) were outside the transportation formation plan. 897 block trains with grain were sent in the Northern region. The advantage of such trains is the reduction of delivery times due to the passage without processing at key marshalling stations: Astana, Karaganda-Sortirovochnaya, Ekibastuz, Tobol, Shu.

The issue of extending the warranty legs of train maintenance was under special control. For this purpose, the passage of even and odd freight trains with a 15-minute stop and change of locomotive crews was organized at Yesil station, as well as technical maintenance at Tobol and Atbasar stations. Full technical maintenance was provided at Myrza and Nura stations to

Saryshagan station, as well as at Akadyr station to Sorokovaya and Astana stations with the change of locomotive crews at Karaganda-Sortirovochnaya station within 15 minutes. These measures have significantly increased the throughput capacity at the Karaganda-Sortirovochnaya and Yesil stations.

In addition, in 2024, the Center provided more than 1.5 thousand "technological windows" for major and intensive medium repairs of tracks, which is 670 "windows" more than last year.

In 2024, the RTCC launched the "Paperless Maintenance of the Schedule of Completed Train Movement" project on 5 train sections (Tobol-Yesil, Sorokovaya-Yermentau, Sorokovaya-Karaganda-Sortirovochnaya, Karaganda-Sortirovochnaya-Kulaigyr, Kulaygyr-Moiynty). The implementation of this project in the automated GID "URAL" system has significantly increased the speed and accuracy of the dispatchers' work. In 2025, the project will be expanded and two more train sections (Ermentau-Ekibastuz, Atbasar-Astana) will be connected to it.

A pilot project "E-Telegram" was also launched, which allows structural divisions of KTZ to send requests and warnings in electronic format directly to the dispatchers' workstations. This has significantly simplified the process of operational management and decision-making.

RTCC North unites four large branches: Akmola, Kostanay, Pavlodar and Karaganda.
