Stop-cock in passenger cars: rules of use and liability

"Passenger transportation" JSC reminds passengers of the rules for using the stop-cock in passenger cars, aimed at ensuring safety and preventing disruptions in the operation of railway transport. 

The stop-cock is intended exclusively for emergency braking in situations where there is a threat to the life or health of passengers or traffic safety is at risk. Its use for personal purposes or without necessity is strictly prohibited.

According to the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Administrative Offenses, an unjustified use of the stop-cock is subject to a fine in the amount of five monthly calculation indices.

After activating the stop-cock, the passenger is obliged to immediately inform the conductor or members of the train crew and explain the reason.

"Passenger transportation" JSC reminds that emergency braking can affect the train schedule and create additional risks. Therefore, the stop-cock should be used only in emergency situations.
