A veteran of the railway industry, Honorary railway worker Dauletbai Yesimbekov has collected little-known historical facts about the construction of the Moyynty-Shu railway section, in which his father Dasere Yesimbekov took part. A separate publication presents rare materials dedicated to the construction of the railway line: copies of rare historical documents, line diagrams and photographs.
Construction of the site began in 1947 during the difficult post-war years and was completed in 1953. The 438 km long road ran through the waterless territory of Sary-Arka and Moyynkum. The builders of the nationwide construction project demonstrated unity and selfless work for the benefit of their native country.
The steel line was of enormous economic importance for Kazakhstan. It opened the way for Karaganda coal and virgin grain to the republics of Central Asia and connected the north and south of the country.
Construction of the railway line simultaneously started from the Moyynty station of the Karaganda railway and from the Shu station of the Turkestan-Siberian railway. Labor productivity at construction sites increased. In 1953, this figure reached 130%. Socialist competitions developed for exceeding production standards, reducing the time frame for commissioning construction projects, and for early commissioning of the line into permanent operation. Labor feats were performed by Stakhanovites, shock workers and production leaders.
Thanks to construction, settlements grew in the desert, which was formerly called the Hungry Steppe. At the stations, stations and passenger platforms, diesel locomotive depots, residential buildings, cultural and communal facilities, public catering, trade and healthcare, kindergartens and boarding schools for the children of railway workers were built. 22.5 thousand sq.m. were put into operation. living space. Low-rise premises and residential buildings for railway workers were built using flow-high-speed methods.
The Shu-Moyynty line was built by virtually the whole of Kazakhstan; it turned into a truly people's construction project, where a special incentive labor system was in effect - piecework-progressive and lump-sum bonuses. Personnel were recruited mainly from the local population. The roadbed was poured by thousands of collective farmers sent from all over the republic. In the summer months, the number of people employed in construction reached 15 thousand people.
Traffic on the new line was opened by a heavy train loaded with coal produced in excess of the plan by the advanced Karaganda mines. Coming towards him from the south was another train with tanks for fuel, gondola cars for coal, covered cars with consumer goods and fruit. This is how regular train traffic began.
Last year, on the initiative of the Central Council of Veterans and Veterans of the Zhambyl branch of KTZ, memorial plaques were installed at the stations through which the road passed. And in honor of the completion of the Moyynty-Shu railway, an anniversary medal was minted.
