23-11-2023

Chairman of the Management Board of NC KTZ JSC Nurlan Sauranbayev announced this at a Government meeting with the participation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov.

To ensure uninterrupted transportation of export and transit cargo, KTZ has developed a Railway Infrastructure Development Program. It defines the scope of repairs, ongoing maintenance, infrastructure modernization and construction of new tracks.

Until 2030, measures will be implemented to eliminate limiting areas. It is planned to lengthen existing and build additional station tracks, open new separate points, introduce automatic blocking and build second tracks.

Today, KTZ is already implementing four large infrastructure projects. Within three years, railway lines will be built in the sections Dostyk-Moiynty, Bakhty-Ayagoz, Darbaza-Maktaaral and a bypass around Almaty with a total length of 1334 km.

Since last year, modernization of the Dostyk-Moiynty railway section has been actively carried out. Second tracks are being laid along the existing line, the launch of which will increase the capacity of the section by 5 times.

The construction of a railway line bypassing Almaty has begun, which will relieve the Almaty hub by 40% and reduce the delivery time of transit cargo.

On November 25, the construction of the Darbaza-Maktaaral railway line will be launched, which will relieve congestion on the Saryagash-Tashkent section.

In December it is planned to launch the construction of the Bakhty-Ayagoz railway line. The new line will increase freight traffic in the direction of China.

In addition, measures are being taken to develop single-track sections Zhezkazgan-Zharyk, Kazaly - Arys, Almaty - Altynkol, Aksu - Zhana-Semey, Kandyagash - Tobol.
