29-01-2025

In 2024, the company implemented the planned measures to protect railway facilities and rolling stock from fires. This year was an important stage in reducing the number of fires at railway facilities: the coordinated work of all departments and effective preventive measures made it possible to reduce the number of fires by 49%, from 37 to 19 cases.

To raise awareness and train personnel, more than 4 thousand classes were held on fire safety basics, in which over 17 thousand people participated. In addition, more than 8 thousand briefings were conducted, covering 28.7 thousand employees, which contributed to the improvement of the safety culture at all levels.

KTZ fire trains, equipped with modern equipment and professional specialists, play a key role in extinguishing fires. In 2024, fire trains and vehicles of NGPS KTZ responded to 32 calls to extinguish fires, including 24 times to assist the Department of Emergency Situations in extinguishing fires in forest belts, third-party facilities and in the private sector, delivering more than 1.6 thousand tons of water and 1.5 tons of foam for effective fire extinguishing. Their efficiency and mobility allow them to quickly eliminate threats and minimize damage. In 2024, much attention was paid to preventive fire safety measures. At the regional level, 233 round tables and meetings were organized with akimats, the Department of Emergency Situations and farms, which made it possible to establish fruitful cooperation in the field of fire safety. Railway workers also actively participated in the republican command and staff exercises of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, such as "Koktem-2024", "Ort-2024", "Zher-2024" and "Kys-2024". 271 fire-tactical exercises were conducted at railway facilities to increase operational readiness and practice joint actions.

As part of the information work, 380 letters were sent to akimats, farms, linear police departments and the Department of Emergency Situations, and 263 notices and posters were published on preventive measures to ensure fire safety. Representatives of KTZ participated in various meetings and conferences on fire safety issues, including meetings of the Interdepartmental State Commission of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan on preparation for the fire-hazardous period and the emergency situations commission of the Astana Akimat on the safety of transportation of dangerous goods.

To improve the quality of fire safety assessment of facilities, the company has developed and approved a methodology for calculating risk criteria during inspections of railway transport facilities. This has made it possible to more accurately assess possible threats and respond to them promptly. In 2025, the company will continue to work hard to ensure fire safety.
