The first meeting of the operational grain headquarters this year was held at KTZ-Freight Transportation LLP with the participation of representatives of the Union of Grain Processors, the Association of Flour Millers of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Astyk Trans JSC on the organization of grain cargo transportation.
At the meeting, the results of grain cargo transportation by rail last year were summed up. Thus, grain transportation increased by 12.7%, to 11.3 million tons. 9 million tons were shipped for export, which is 1 million tons more than the 2022 level. 3 million tons of grinding products were transported, including 2.2 million tons for export. Imports of agricultural products into the Republic of Kazakhstan increased by 15%.
As of January of this year. a basic plan for export transportation in the amount of 1.5 million tons of grain cargo has been agreed upon. Of these, 1.2 million tons through the Saryagash border crossing in the direction of Uzbekistan.
It was noted that in the first days of January, the delivery of trains to Uzbekistan increased noticeably (up to 32 - 33 trains per day), at the same time, the reception of trains by the Chinese side slowed down (11-12 trains per day). At the same time, last year the transportation of grain to China increased 3 times compared to 2022, to 2.2 million tons, the loading of grinding products increased 2 times, to 600 thousand tons. Today, this is a record figure for the transportation of grain cargo to the neighboring country over the past few years.
Representatives of KTZ spoke about the measures taken to speed up the delivery of goods through the network. In 2023, 113 mainline locomotives were purchased. At the moment, there are enough wagons for transporting goods in the country; moreover, there is a surplus of empty private wagons, which have occupied the access roads of shippers and complicated shunting work. The stations are subject to the Regulations on interaction between private locomotive traction operators and the National Infrastructure Operator (NIO), adopted at the request of businesses.
Shippers noted the well-coordinated work of KTZ in organizing the transportation process, as well as in the effective transfer of goods to the PRC and building correct interactions at all international railway junctions.
