Valuable documents from the family archive of one of the first female locomotive drivers in Kazakhstan, Zhabira Zhusipova, have been transferred to the collection of the Central Museum of Railway Transport.
Among them are personal documents, Certificates of Honor and a photograph taken more than 70 years ago. The documents were collected and transferred thanks to the family of the legendary woman, journalists from one of the oldest newspapers in Kazakhstan, Znamya Truda and Kazakhstanskaya Pravda, as well as employees of the Turksib station, the press service and the KTZ trade union.
Zhabira Zhusipova drove a locomotive on the Pishpek - Lugovaya section (now Turksib). She began her career as an assistant driver at the age of 18.
Zhabira Zhusipova was awarded the Order of Lenin for her conscientious work. She was elected as a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Kirghiz SSR, she was a delegate to the XIII Congress of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan. One of the streets at the Turksib station is named after Zhabira Zhusipova. As her fellow countrymen note, she serves as an example of courage and hard work, femininity and masculinity for them.
The museum plans to open a stand dedicated to women who drove trains in different years.
