Railway workers switched to round-the-clock mode of clearing snow from tracks

Railway workers are quickly eliminating the consequences of the record snowfall. The February snowstorms were not long in coming. The height of the snowdrifts in some areas reached 3-4 meters.

Over the past 24 hours alone, 70 units of equipment and 2 thousand workers were brought in to combat snow drifts on the tracks.

In the period from February 1 to February 7, more than 10 thousand km of track were cleared, almost 114 thousand cubic meters of snow were removed. Since the beginning of the winter period, snow removal machines have completed 1932 trips, removing about 500 thousand cubic meters of snow mass.

According to meteorologists, heavy snow and increased wind are expected in Kazakhstan in the coming days, gusts of which in the north of the country will reach 30 meters per second. The KTZ track service noted that a 24-hour cleaning regime has been organized for the main tracks.
