Railway workers of Kazakhstan and China discussed the work plan for 2024

A working meeting of the railway administrations of Kazakhstan and China took place in Urumqi. The Kazakh delegation was headed by the Managing Director for Production Process of NC KTZ JSC Bauyrzhan Urynbasarov, the Chinese side was headed by the Chairman of the Board of Urumqi Railway LLC Gao Jianyang.

The parties summed up the work of border railways in 2023. It was noted that the volume of cargo transportation between the two countries increased by 22% compared to 2022 and reached a record level of over 28 million tons. At the same time, Kazakhstan shippers sent 12.6 million tons for export, which is 35% higher than the 2022 level. Exports of grain cargo increased by 2 times, to 2.2 million tons, flour and milling products - by 3 times, to 600 thousand tons, vegetable oil - by 56%, to 180 thousand tons, non-ferrous metals by 41%, to 500 thousand tons, coke - 4 times.

At the meeting, the Kazakh side informed about the work done last year and large-scale track works planned in 2024, modernization of signaling and automation equipment, expansion of infrastructure on the Moyynty-Dostyk section. In turn, the Chinese side presented the modernization of the Jinghe-Alashankou railway section.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to synchronize work on infrastructure development at the Dostyk-Alashankou border crossing. Taking into account the upcoming work for 2024, an agreement was reached to maintain the volume of cargo transportation at last year’s level.

As part of the working trip, the Kazakh delegation visited the train dispatch center of the Urumqi Railway, where issues regarding the acceptance and delivery of freight trains, preliminary exchange of information, including data in electronic format for registration of customs procedures, were discussed.
 


The Kazakh delegation also got acquainted with the work of the new terminal in the bonded zone of the Alashankou station for unloading grain crops and vegetable oils. During the meeting, the parties agreed on transportation technology and increasing the acceptance of Kazakh agricultural products.

Negotiations were held in Tacheng with the leadership of the State Railway Administration of the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China and the Tarbagatai District of the XUAR. At the meeting, the Kazakh side informed about the ongoing work on the construction of the Ayagoz-Bakhty and the third border railway crossing. Chinese colleagues spoke about the construction of the Tacheng - State Border with Kazakhstan railway line. The leadership of the Tarbagatai district organized a visit to the “Pilot zone for the development of Tacheng district” (SEZ), where the construction of a transport and logistics center and an urban industrial zone is underway. Based on the results of the negotiations, the Parties signed the corresponding Protocol.
