Railroad workers continue to do their part to help people affected by the floods. They participate in the collection and delivery of humanitarian aid and special equipment necessary to combat the disaster, organize hot meals for rescuers and victims, strengthen dams and river banks.
About 23 thousand railway workers were mobilized to combat the consequences of floods. Kostanay railway workers formed bridge reinforcements from sandbags. Atyrau railway workers carried out work to prepare 5 thousand bags of sand. Employees of the Uralsk station organized hot lunches for rescuers, are collecting humanitarian aid and strengthening the dam. The workers of the Makat station handed over the necessary equipment to the rescuers: shovels, bags and gloves. Railway workers in the Atyrau region sheltered several families forced to leave flooded areas in their homes. Young railway workers provide the necessary assistance at temporary accommodation centers.
In some regions of the country, the railway remains the only transport for transporting people and goods. Food is delivered to flooded stations by rail. By the efforts of the employees of Kedentransservice JSC, 17 wagons of humanitarian aid were loaded and sent to the Kulsary station. A pontoon bridge was transported by rail from Kapchagay station to Shubar-Kuduk, which became a salvation for residents of the flooded area.
Passenger trains transport the population from flood zones. 246 passengers were transported in the Karaganda region, 5,793 people were transported in the Atyrau region. Children from the affected regions were transported by rail to health centers.
Throughout the country, 45 anti-wash-out trains consisting of 292 cars were equipped. They are equipped with the necessary equipment and materials to eliminate the consequences of the flood. 47 firefighting trains are in full readiness. Special trains pumped out more than 8.7 thousand cubic meters. m. water. 100 fire and anti-washout train workers from the Makat and Beineu stations are on duty at the Kulsary station.
Railway workers showed solidarity with their colleagues who suffered as a result of the flood. They were provided with assistance in pumping water and filling their home areas, renting housing, and providing food baskets. A ten-day supply of food was provided to the evacuated workers at the Kulsary station.
In addition, KTZ will allocate two billion tenge to help flood-affected regions.
On the railway, thanks to the timely implementation of flood control measures, the erosion of railway tracks and the cessation of train traffic were not allowed. In all regions, bridge pipes, drainage wells, drainage ditches, etc. were 100% cleared of snow, ice and debris.
In total, more than 3.5 thousand bridges, over 6.3 thousand pipes, more than 2.2 thousand km of ditches and 550.5 km of upland ditches. A 24-hour watch has been organized on 25 bridges; the passage of flood waters through artificial structures (bridges, pipes, upland and drainage ditches, etc.) is carried out as usual.
Measures have been strengthened to implement detours and monitor the flood situation along the main railway network, and all suspected dangerous places are being monitored.
