Railway station employees have improved their skills in interacting with people with disabilities


A special training for employees of the Nurly Zhol station complex related to passenger services was conducted by representatives of the public association of disabled people - the Center “Independent Life “DOS”.

Participants received a set of knowledge and skills on building comfortable communication with people with limited mobility. They were also trained in practical skills of using a wheelchair, getting in and out of people with musculoskeletal disorders in accordance with international standards.

According to the deputy director of the branch of NC KTZ JSC - “Astana Railway Station Complex” Aigul Uksikbayeva, the employees of the station complex try to provide any assistance and assistance to all passengers, including those with limited mobility, providing them with escort from the vehicle to the carriage and throughout the station.

“Such trainings improve the level of competence of our employees and allow us to create a new level of comfortable, inclusive environment,” she noted.

To create a barrier-free environment for people with special needs, KTZ is working to modernize the infrastructure of its stations. Mnemonic diagrams and information tactile signs made in Braille are installed.

Information desks are equipped with induction panels for the hearing impaired. Over 100 stations are equipped with buttons to call station attendants.

Work is underway to refurbish ticket offices and sanitary facilities.
