Kazakhstan Temir Zholy is implementing major infrastructure projects to build railways with a total length of over 1,000 km. The head of state noted in his Address to the people of Kazakhstan that "projects must be completed within the established deadlines and at a high quality level."
Today, about 5 thousand people work at construction sites in different regions of the country every day. Over 1,300 units of equipment are involved.
Along the existing Dostyk - Moiynty line, second tracks with a length of 836 km are being built. Today, excavation work is 96% complete: 7 million cubic meters of roadbed have been filled. About 550 kilometers of new rail and sleeper grid have been laid. Already this year, it is planned to open temporary working train traffic on the second track on two sections: Moiynty - Balkhash and Beskol - Dostyk.
The construction of a bypass railway line bypassing the railway junction of Almaty station is in the active phase. Here, 73 km of main tracks will be laid. Including the development of new dividing points, a total of 123 km will be built. The project is technically challenging due to the difficult terrain. In some areas, complex hillside culverts are installed.
Equipment has been mobilized for the construction of the Darbaza - state border with Uzbekistan railway, 152 km long. The territory is being prepared for construction, earthworks have begun, quarries are being developed.
As part of the construction of new railways, it is planned to open new dividing points, build bridges and road overpasses.
The projects are being implemented with the assistance of the Government, the Ministry of Transport, regional akimats and Samruk-Kazyna JSC. The new railways will not only increase the country's transit and transport potential and attract new volumes of cargo across all types of communications. Already at the construction stage, the projects have a huge multiplier effect on related areas. All construction and installation work is carried out by domestic contractors. Rails, sleepers, and building materials are purchased from Kazakhstani enterprises. About 150 thousand tons of rails will be purchased for the construction of new railway lines, as well as more than 2 million reinforced concrete sleepers with fastenings.
