An open day was held at the capital's depot

28-03-2024

On the eve of the professional holiday - Transport Workers' Day - an open day for children was held at the operational locomotive depot of the Astana station.

They were able to immerse themselves in the real environment of the locomotive depot, see exhibits of the enterprise history museum and visit the locomotive cabin.

The capital's depot was created in 1931, when train traffic began on the Petropavlovsk - Kokshetau section. A tour of the museum was led by a veteran of the depot, who worked at this enterprise for more than 40 years, an honorary railway worker, and a former driver-instructor Vladimir Ulyanenko. Before his eyes, the depot developed and prospered. He knew many of the people whose photos are posted on the museum’s stands.

The children's special attention was drawn to the tools that railway workers used in their daily work, teaching aids, documents of drivers dating back to the last century, and awards that have survived to this day. Among the exhibits is the brochure “Advanced Experience of Operating Drivers of the Karaganda Railway” (1949), the book “Repair of Steam Locomotives” (1952).

The children were greatly impressed by the models of the first steam, diesel and electric locomotives.

The museum is constantly being updated. Depot workers and veterans bring valuable items from family archives.

Once on a modern electric locomotive, the children were convinced that a driver is the main profession in transport, and driving trains is the most honorable and important thing.

During the tour of the depot, children were reminded of the rules of behavior on the railway.
