The national carrier will renew its rolling stock by 700 cars by 2030

Passenger Transportation JSC held a briefing on current activities and organization of summer transportation for 2024. In his speech, General Director of Passenger Transportation JSC Zhanibek Taizhanov noted that there are 138 railway passenger routes in Kazakhstan, of which 97 are served by the National Carrier, the rest are private carriers and international trains.

The National Carrier's fleet consists of 2,157 passenger cars (standard, Talgo and electric diesel trains). Over the past 10 years, about 1.5 thousand modern cars have been purchased, including over 150 cars in 2023 and the first quarter of 2024. New cars are included in trains in the directions Almaty - Mangistau, Almaty - Atyrau, Atyrau - Astana, Atyrau - Mangistau, Astana - Shymkent, Astana - Semey, Kyzylorda - Semey, Almaty - Zhezkazgan, Pavlodar - Almaty, Pavlodar - Turkestan and Atyrau - Aktobe. By 2030, more than 700 cars will be delivered, including 537 cars produced by Stadler Kazakhstan.

During the holiday period of 2024, it is planned to transport more than 4.2 million passengers by trains of the National Carrier. One of the popular tourist destinations is Lake Alakol. This year, it is planned to launch trains to the lake coast on 12 routes from Astana, Almaty, East Kazakhstan and Abay regions, and also for the first time from Kyzylorda. Trains from Passenger Transportation JSC will travel on 10 routes, and trains of private carriers on two routes. The number of seats offered on trains will increase by 16 thousand compared to last year, to 270 thousand. To ensure the convenience of passengers during the tourist season, all carriages of the National Carrier will be equipped with air conditioning.

The national carrier conducted a survey on the further development of the “Women's carriage” project. More than 600 respondents took part in it. Based on the results of the survey, it was decided to launch women's cars on three more routes: No. 354/353 “Astana-Semey”, No. 24/23 “Aktobe-Almaty” and No. 25/26 “Almaty-Shymkent”. In total, trains with women's carriages will run on 11 routes. In the first quarter of 2024, over 70 thousand women used the “Women's carriages” service. This show has doubled compared to the same period in 2023.
