More than 13.5 million passengers were transported in 2023

In 2023, over 13.5 million passengers were transported on the trains of Passenger Transportation JSC. For Kazakhstanis, the most popular routes have become the following routes: Astana-Almaty, Astana-Shymkent, Almaty-Shymkent, Astana-Semey, Almaty-Semey, where there is a high demand for tickets.

High demand for train tickets occurs during the summer and winter periods (holiday season, holidays) and holidays.

So, for example, Passenger Transportation JSC transported over 4 million passengers in the summer of 2023.

Also, one of the services in demand among passengers is the “Waiting List”. This service can be used on the website bilet.railways.kz and ticket offices of Passenger Transportation JSC. Using the “Waiting List” you can get in line for available tickets. In 2023, this service was offered to 485 thousand passengers, of which 168 thousand tickets were purchased.

In order to update the fleet of passenger cars and provide comfortable travel for passengers, work is underway annually to purchase new passenger cars of the National Carrier, which amounts to about 2151 units, of which 1311 are standard cars, 732 Talgo cars, 108 electric-diesel train cars. The average depreciation of the fleet is 44%.

Work to update the fleet continues; in 2022, an agreement was concluded for the purchase of 537 high-tech passenger cars using Stadler technology, which are planned to be delivered from 2025 to 2030.

Also, last year agreements were concluded for the purchase of 150 passenger cars from the ZIKSTO plant. In 2023, the plant has already delivered 94 new passenger cars. They have already been delivered and are successfully operating on the Magystau-Atyrau, Aktobe-Atyrau and Pavlodar-Turkestan routes.
