Major repairs of the railway in the Pavlodar and Kyzylorda regions have been completed

08-08-2024

Since the beginning of the summer track works on the KTZ network about 750 km of the railway track have been repaired. This is more than half of the volume planned for 2024.

In total, this year, railway workers plan to renew over 1,400 km of track, of which 570 km are major, with a complete replacement of rails and sleepers.

To date, the track and sleeper grid has been replaced on 368 km of track. The work has been completed on sections of the Pavlodar (31.5 km) and Kyzylorda (43.16 km) branches of the main network. Major repairs in the Shymkent branch are nearing completion. The work is 99% complete. Repairs are currently underway on the Igilik - Korgasyn - Shymkent section. Almost 50% of the planned volumes were renewed by railway workers within the boundaries of the Karaganda, Kostanay, Semey, Zhambyl, Aktobe, Atyrau, and Mangistau branches of the main network.

The track workers of the Akmola branch of the main network have a large front of work this season. Of the 110.44 km, about 63.07 km have been repaired. Today, the Ugolki - Karagay, Petropavlovsk - Smirnovo sections are being renewed. In early September, work will begin from the Zhana - Yesil station to the Pervaya Tselinnaya station.

This year, in order to increase efficiency, major track repairs on some sections are being carried out using a new method - in a closed section mode with a completed work cycle. This technology involves closing the section for several days and performing a large volume of work using track equipment. The KTZ track facilities include more than 730 units of various machines: Duomatic, Unimat MF, tamping and straightening machines, RM-80, RM-2002, Atlas rail grinding trains, etc. This year, the track equipment fleet was replenished with 4 UK-25/25 laying cranes and 8 units of MPK motor platforms. With the help of new machines, major track repairs have already been carried out in the Pavlodar and Kokshetau regions.

In addition to major renovations, railway workers carry out enhanced medium and medium track repairs. They carry out work on the continuous replacement of rail supports, track gauge, and other preventive measures.

Scheduled track repairs improve the reliability of the infrastructure and increase the speed of trains on renovated sections.
