Main historical events of the railway industry in 2024

This year, the Kazakhstan railway will celebrate its 120th anniversary, the 145th anniversary of the birth of a public figure, the first Kazakh railway engineer Mukhamedzhan Tynyshpayev and the 120th anniversary of the birth of the people's artist, founder of Kazakh painting and author of the famous painting “Turksib” Abilkhan Kasteyev.

120 years of development of the steel railway in Kazakhstan
The year of foundation of railway transport in Kazakhstan is considered to be 1904, when the construction of the Orenburg-Tashkent railway began, which connected Russia with Central Asia and passed through the territory of the Uzbek, Kazakh, Kyrgyz and Tajik SSR. The first steel highway contributed to the development of trade, industry, and the social sphere of the region. 

145th anniversary of the first Kazakh railway engineer Mukhamedzhan Tynyshpayev
Mukhamedzhan Tynyshpayev is a Kazakh public figure, deputy of the Second State Duma of Russia, Prime Minister of the Turkestan Autonomy, member of the Alash Orda, the first Kazakh railway engineer.
Mukhamedzhan Tynyshpayev was born on May 12, 1879 in the Semirechensk region. In 1900 he graduated from the Vernensky gymnasium and entered the Imperial Institute of Railway Engineers named after Alexander I in St. Petersburg. In 1905, having successfully passed the final exams, he became the first Kazakh railway engineer. Participated in the design and construction of the Turkestan-Siberian Railway, which connected Siberia and Central Asia. 

120th anniversary of the artist Abilkhan Kasteyev
Abilkhan Kasteyev - painter, watercolorist, one of the founders of Kazakh fine art, People's Artist of the Kazakh SSR, State Prize laureate was born on January 14, 1904 in the Taldykurgan region.
Since childhood, the artist was fond of folk art, carving various crafts and decorations from wood and bone. His father died early, and Abilkhan worked as a shepherd and then as a laborer at the construction site of the Turkestan-Siberian Railway. His talent was noticed by the management of the construction site and sent him to study in Alma-Ata, giving the young man a start in life.
The artist created over 1100 works; Kasteev’s most famous paintings are “Cotton Harvesting”, “Turksib”, “Medeo High Mountain Skating Rink”.
