KTZ is ready to transport the planned volume of coal cargo
22-08-2024
In preparation for the 2024-2025 heating season, since May of this year, 17 million tons of coal have been transported across Kazakhstan via the KTZ network. Of these, 16 million tons of solid fuel were delivered to the country's thermal power plants and 1 million tons for the population.
In order to ensure a stable passage of the 2024-2025 heating season, KTZ is implementing a Roadmap for coal transportation. The document includes activities for the work of the operational headquarters, monitoring groups, as well as visits to the main coal dead ends and meetings with the participation of representatives of interested government agencies and coal mines.
KTZ has an operational headquarters for the coordination of coal transportation, which involves more than 60 employees, both from the central office and territorial divisions. The headquarters monitors coal shipments from each open-pit coal mine to all regions of Kazakhstan and the country's thermal power plants around the clock. It makes regulatory decisions in real time and ensures urgent and medium-term planning for the delivery of empty wagons and loading.
KTZ held a number of meetings with representatives of the coal mines of JSC Karazhyra, JSC Maikuben West, JSC Shubarkol Komir, and Kazakhmys, where issues of the upcoming heating season, the uniformity of coal transportation, and the organization of transportation routing were discussed. In the autumn-winter period of 2024–2025, about 20 thousand gondola cars of JSC Kaztemirtrans will be used for coal transportation.
KTZ carries out systematic work to monitor the provision of coal transportation, the remaining stock of solid fuel in the warehouses of thermal power plants, and also controls the provision of shippers' requests and the implementation of wagon turnover. An interactive system (dashboard) for monitoring coal transportation has been implemented.
